1950s Armchair in linen

An upholstered armchair by Czech furniture designer J. Halabala. Made in the 1950s, the design was produced in Central European furniture factories throughout the mid-20th Century. The eye-catching silhouette and comfortable shape has had an enduring appeal. Influenced by Modern and Art Deco design, a deep upholstered seat upon angled wooden feet is framed by the dramatic curves of the bentwood armrests. The smooth polish of the wooden arms, weathered to a rich shine, lends a warm inflection to the updated natural white upholstery.
